Skincare Regime For Oily Skin
Oily skin is one of the most common skin concerns. It presents some of the most unique challenges, such as a shiny complexion and acne breakouts.
Well, the good news is, with the right skincare routine and products, all of these issues can be less of a problem.
A simple four-step routine can help keep your skin healthy, clear, and shine-free.
Cleanse in the AM and PM
The most important step of any skincare routine is cleansing your skin. Even though most people should be washing their face morning and night, it is especially important for the ones with oily skin to give their face a complete cleanse in the morning.
Even though you might feel like your skin is still clean from the night before, remember that during the night your skin is busy shedding skin cells and producing oils.
That is why washing using a good exfoliating cleanser, both in the morning and evening, is recommended.
Use a toner
Once your skin is clean and free from any makeup, dirt, and oil, it is suggested to use an exfoliating toner that contains either:
Salicylic acid
Glycolic acid
Lactic acid
Treat your skin
This step is going to depend on your specific skin concerns. But generally, if you are prone to acne, you should be using benzoyl peroxide or sulfur during the daytime to help curb oil production and prevent further breakouts.
In the evening, it is recommended to use a retinol product to help keep pores clear and skin glowing.
Moisturize in the AM and PM
Moisturizing is a crucial step if you have oily skin.
It is believed that if you have oily skin, you do not need to or should not moisturize but this is not true. You should be using the best moisturizer for oily skin.
Each and every type of skin type needs a moisturizer. But if you have oily skin, you should choose the best cream for oily skin.
Look for a moisturizer that is:
Lightweight
Free of oils
Water-based
Any moisturizer that is made for acne-prone skin must meet these criteria.
